My goal was to finish and feel like I could go longer. That was not the case. When I finished I was spent and I didn't want to run another minute. The course was a little long according to my watch and believe me, I was wishing it was a little short instead of long.

Even though it didn't turn out like I wanted it to, I still had a great time on the trails and running with my buddy. This was my first marathon since Boston in 2017 so I was happy to make it through. I forgot how tough the last 5-6 miles are with a marathon and I had to dig deep to keep my legs going the last 2 miles. On a positive note, I am not sore at all after running the marathon and my legs feel pretty good. Usually I take a couple weeks off, but because we ran so slow I think I can run much sooner. The next goal is to BQ at Mt. Charleston in April.

I am always thankful that I have been blessed with the ability to run like I do. I love the feeling I get when I accomplish a goal, even if it's not exactly how I had it planned out in my head. I had a great time and pushed through some pretty dark moments while I was on the course, but I still pushed through. I alway love the chance to run with my buddy Rhett too. He has been the #1 reason I have been able to do all this stuff. It was great to spend time with him and pusing through some dark moments together. We were able to both help each other during this reace. Now the serious training begins for Mt. Charleston.
Sat, 12 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Fri, Jan 11, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-11-2019.html
I did 3.6 miles on the trails this morning just to give my legs a little time on the trails before the run tomorrow. I took it nice and easy. After the run I felt like my legs were getting warmed up so that's a good sign. Looking forward to my race/adventure with Rhett tomorrow!!
Fri, 11 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Thu, Jan 10, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-10-2019.html
3 easy miles
Thu, 10 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Tue, Jan 08, 2019 Saturday. Everything else this week will be short and slow.
Tue, 08 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Mon, Jan 07, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-07-2019.html
I was in Vegas training people all day yesterday so I slept in this morning and hit the trails for 30 minutes during lunch. This will be the last bit I do on trails until my race this weekend. I tried out my new Altra TIMP trail shoes and they felt really good. I think I will go for it and wear them for the race this weekend.
Mon, 07 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Sat, Jan 05, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-05-2019.html
16 nice and easy miles on the roads/trails. My legs felt a little tired to start but they felt really good when I finished. Next week is the trail marathon so I will take things much easier next week just so my legs feel a little fresher for my run next week.
Sat, 05 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Fri, Jan 04, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-04-2019.html
I had to run late so I just did 4 easy miles.
Fri, 04 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Thu, Jan 03, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-03-2019.html
Nice and easy 10 mile run today. I actually felt really good considering I did 10 yesterday afternoon. It was really cold this morning but after a mile or so it felt really nice. I am finally getting back to my old ways where I run more back to back 8-10 mile runs. I have really missed doing this so it feels good to be back.

AP: 8:51
Thu, 03 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Wed, Jan 02, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-02-2019.html
I decided to sleep in a little because I was up early New Years Day and I didn't sleep much that night. I am glad I did. I had clinic today so about 11 I went to the gym and ran outside on the track for 10 miles. It is really flat so I ran pretty fast even though I tried to slow it down. It was just really easy and I hardly felt like I was working. It's amazing the difference you feel when you are running on a flat course vs. a hilly course. I want to get a few back to back 10 milers in and this weekend I will do 15-16. Next week is my trail marathon and I am not trying to go fast so I don't need a major taper.

AP: 8:05
Wed, 02 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Tue, Jan 01, 2019 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-01-01-2019.html
It was an unusual day. A friend wanted to go surfing for the day so we loaded up in his RV and headed to the beach. The night before we decided we would take the bikes just in case. Well, it was a good thing we took the bikes. It was crazy windy and the waves were terrible. It was also really really cold so I was not about to get in the water. We decided to take a trail that has a bike path and ride for a while. It was a nice relaxing ride and basically flat. It was windy going out, but the way back was a strong tailwind and we basically didn't have to pedal. It was a good to work the legs a little but in a different way.
Tue, 01 Jan 2019 07:00:00 Mon, Dec 31, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-31-2018.html
I started the day before New Years off right with a nice run. The weather was about perfect and I actually felt really good after the 20 mile run on Saturday. My legs felt fresh and ready to run. I am hoping I can get a run in tomorrow but we will see how much the late night messes me up.

Happy New Year!
Mon, 31 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Sat, Dec 29, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-29-2018.html
Had a really nice run with Rhett. It was really cold and windy, but it was still a really nice run. I have not run on the Havasu trails for a while so it was a challenging run for the 10 miles we were on the trails. It has been fun to run again with Rhett. I wanted to go longer but I had to be home by 9 and we didn't have any more time. It was good to get a 10 mile run followed by a 20 mile run though. Legs felt good after and I actually felt pretty good all day.
Sat, 29 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Fri, Dec 28, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-28-2018.html
Had a really good run with Rhett this morning. It is always good to run with him and get the chance to talk. It was a cold morning in Havasu with lots of wind, but it was still a really fun run.
Fri, 28 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Thu, Dec 27, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-27-2018.html
I was leaving to Lake Havasu early this morning so I only had time for a 6 mile run.
Thu, 27 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Wed, Dec 26, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-26-2018.html
My body felt tired today. I think I ate too much bad stuff yesterday and didn't get much sleep Christmas Eve night. I went slow so the AP was about 9:00/mile.
Wed, 26 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Tue, Dec 25, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-25-2018.html
I decided to take the cold and windy Christmas Day off!
Tue, 25 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Mon, Dec 24, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-24-2018.html
I was able to sleep in a little and then get my run in. My legs were still tired from the run on Saturday, but once I got going I felt pretty good. I kept the run nice and slow with an AP of 8:50 to let the legs just recover. Tomorrow is suppose to be bad weather so I will see what kind of a run I can get in.
Mon, 24 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Sat, Dec 22, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-22-2018.html
I had a really good 21 mile run this morning. The course I chose to do was very very challenging with a lot of hills. About 12 miles of it was on trails with 6 uphill and 6 downhill. I also had a couple areas before I got to the trails that were pretty tough uphills and downhills. I chose this because I not only wanted to go long today, I wanted to challange myself. I will say the last few miles were not easy. I had my little girl come and run a little bit with me and bring me some food and something to drink with some carbs. Once I got some of that in me I felt a lot better. Overall I was really happy with the run today. It boosted my confidence that I will be fine with the upcoming trail marathon I have in a few weeks. My total running time was 3:37 so it was good to be on my feet for a long period of time. Now I will take the day to recover!
Sat, 22 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Fri, Dec 21, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-21-2018.html
Good run this morning. It was good to have the quick turn around after running last night so my legs could get use to running when they are a little tired. Weather was nice and the run was enjoyable.
Fri, 21 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Thu, Dec 20, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-20-2018.html
I didn't get a run done in the morning so I did it after I got home from school. I never like running at the end of the day. It was a really slow run and my side hurt most of the run. This is something that only happens when I run at the end of the day.
Thu, 20 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Wed, Dec 19, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-19-2018.html
Had a nice run this morning. I didn't have any pressing school things so I started later and just took things nice and slow. I did a different run which had more hills.

Then did some core work.

Wed, 19 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Tue, Dec 18, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-18-2018.html
I took Monday as another rest day to let my ankle heal a little more from rolling it and the long run on Saturday. The legs felt good this morning and the weather was amazing.
Tue, 18 Dec 2018 07:00:00 Sat, Dec 15, 2018 http://Toofdoc.fastrunningblog.com/blog-12-15-2018.html
I got to go bac to Havasu this weekend and run with Rhett. It was a lot of fun to catch up and get the chance to run with him again. I think it felt like going back home for my whole family. I had a decent run, but there were a few times my body was ready to scream at me. Overall I had a blast hanging out with my running buddy again and getting to see Havasu again.
Sat, 15 Dec 2018 07:00:00
